Guestbook & Reviews

Experience Through Their Eyes

Heading home on I75N I timed my drive to coincide with a day Smokin' Butts BBQ was open. After reading all the 5 star reviews, as a chef of 40+ years, I figured this place was too good to be true...Nope, the reviews are spot on. Easy to find, just off the highway look for the truck stop and drive up to BBQ nirvana :) Don't let the burned out old fireworks site unnerve you although I half way expected Pennywise to pop up and scare the bejeezus out of me. Drive up to the little trailer on the left where all the magic happens and order the brisket, fried okra, beans and potato salad. Seriously delicious food. I ate half my meal right then and there, especially the fried okra that Jerry had to convince me to order and he was right! So crispy and not greasy at all. I saved the rest for dinner that night. After stopping at WalMart to pick up some white bread, I was a happy camper for the second time that day.

05Feb2026 Traveling along I75, we always wanted to check out the abandoned amusement park. We noticed that there was a barbecue truck in there and we thought we would check it out this trip and we are so glad we did! We got 1 pound of beef brisket with two sides, potato salad, and baked beans and everything was delicious. The baked beans are not your typical baked beans, they have a little vinegar zing and a different flavor but oh so good. Potato salad is just like Mom makes, and the beef brisket was Smokey and very tender. We will be back!

Great little BBQ hut. I'm in an unusual situation where I'm avoiding meat. But I stopped in here for fried okra. It was excellent. I asked him to also mix me in some fries and got some beans. Everything was really great. The man running the place was pleasant. I'll stop in again when I pass through. Truck parking at pilot and he mentioned trucks can pull up in his area.

Absolutely delicious food and such a fun atmosphere. Fries will make your order take a little longer since they are made fresh, but it is so worth it because it was some of the best fries I've ever had. Definitely recommend stopping by!

We saw the little sign pulling up to the gas station. We decided to give it a try and wondered why there was so much great reviews. That's when a few truckers pulled up and said they had been coming here for 5 years now because it's the best brisket they've ever had. They set the expectations high, and the expectations were met. The brisket was great but the fries were just absolutely amazing.

Cool area, just off the highway, with remnants of an old fireworks post. The owner is very hospitable and nice and the brisket is tender, tasty and great with the sauce on it. The fries had some kind of seasoning on them which made them great! Well worth the stop, we will be back! From Illinois.
